Jim Forster is passionate about extending the Internet. He started at Cisco in 1988 when it was quite small and spent 20 years there, becoming a Distinguished Engineer. While at Cisco he started working on projects and policies to improve Internet access in developing countries. Now he is working with several for-profit and non-profit efforts to extend communications in unserved areas in Africa, India. His foundation, has supported AfNOG, and his firm,, has invested in five ISPs (Mawingu Networks (Kenya), Too Much WiFi (South Africa), Habari Node (Tanzania), and CTN (Malawi), AirJaldi (India).  He and Ben Matranga have started a Debt Fund,, to offer loans for ISPs in Frontier Markets.
